Re: What is better I6 or V6

Define better? . I6 seem to produce more torque than V6 when comparing similar capacity, technology and state of tune. Power levels, economy, etc under the same conditions are similar. V6 has one big upside, in that it is compact, and thus more suited to smaller, particularly E/W engined cars. Local V6 tends to have serious NVH issues, and the possibly shorter service life that goes with such. Other versions are apparently better, though I am lead to believe that the V6 is an inherantly unstable design, which is why Porsche, etc, use a horizontally opposed six.

Work your way through this and make up your own mind;

For me an I6 will always be better than a V6 unless packaging is the major consideration.

V6 is not so cost effective either. I paid $750 for my ehuast on the I-6 and a mate with the Buick V6 will be paying about a grand at best for a similar system. (There is two of eveything yar see..)

if you want to turbo the thing go an i6. With a v6 to run effectively you need twin turbos, You can run one big single turbo but its a lot of stuffing around with plumbing, headers etc -and is messy if not done perfectly.. As for the blower, it doesnt really matter which one you choose.

Re: What is better I6 or V6

You can run a crossover pipe in a V6 and just use one turbo. I've seen it done on a VS Commodore and it works no worries.

Re: What is better I6 or V6

BMW use I6. The M3 motor is one of the best in the world.

But, V6 is also good. Mercedes use V6.
