I just bought an used Wagon (3.8L V6), which drives smoothly but it seems the fuel consumption is very very very high:

13 miles/gal (18 liter/100km)

Is there any other friends who are still driving such model of Taurus made around 1994? Please share me with some figures of yours; I was wondering if I have to do a tune-up for it.

I have a 99 wagon 3.0 24V and I get about 20-21 MPG averaging about 75% highway/ 25% city driving. You probably need to check the plugs/wires. Joe

'95 GL - 3.8 (Ford recall replacement engine) 22 city/24 highway - regular grade fuel, K&N air filter. Original engine (RIP 97K) 20 city/22 highway.

o2 sensor or multiple o2 sensors need to be replaced. Plugs and wires won't cure your 13 mpg but it wouldn't hurt to replace them anyway they are cheap the plugs and wires that is.
