So here's the classic post.

95 F-250 7.3 diesel. SOMETIMES after sitting for too long it'll crank all day but not start. The part that sucks about this is I never know when it's going to be dead. It seems to get worse in cold weather even when I plug the block heater in. After I get it inside to warm up for a few hours it'll start like nothing happened. No check engine light or codes.

Replaced the fuel filter and thought I fixed it but a few days later it wouldn't start again. Local diesel shop said the most likely cause would be leaky injector o-rings, and if this was the case there would be some dampness around the outside of the injectors. Is this true?

Other possibilities I've heard of are the Cam Position Sensor going bad, glow plug relays, and fuel line leaks but so far can't pinpoint whats causing it.

Any help?

If the injectors are going bad it will shake and miss when you first start it. Might be a weak battery also, have you checked your glow plugs?

does the wait to start light stay on the normal length of time? you use fuel conditioner when its cold out? usually the cam(or crank) position sensor doesnt react to temperature it will be pure random. what 7.3 is in it? turbo powerstroke or old style non turbo that has a visible injector pump and the fuel lines come off it to the external injectors? powerstroke injectors are under the valve covers.
