When I switch off the engine of my Escort (1.8 Turbo Diesel), it comes to rest with a big vibration. The car is not fitted with rpm meter so it is difficult to say as to what is the idle speed however, it appears to be quite low.

This is the my first diesel car and I am not sure if this kind of behaviour is normal or not?

Could anyone please shed light on possible causes and remedies?

I have the same problem, although i do have a rev counter , mine idles at about 750-1000 rpm, and its not the timing belt as that has just been replaced because the water pump had to be replaced,hope this is of some use, but mine does go out with a shake when i turn the ignition off, hope someone can help, Jay

my diesel does that tooo(2.0 86 wagon) i think its just natural... ur i dunno but my engine rattles and shakes while its running so. my idle speed is about 800rpm
