Lexus diesel engines

High-performance Lexus diesel engines are on the way so the firm's IS200 can tackle the might of BMW's 3-Series, the Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class.
The brand is handicapped in Britain and Europe where sales of diesel executive models are climbing rapidly. Brits account for more than half of Lexus sales in Europe, and the UK is the firm's largest market after the US. But Lexus's determination to develop its own hi-tech common-rail V6 or V8 diesels means the German models will dominate until late 2004.

Does anyone know what the percentage of diesel to petrol engines sold in the UK would be

would not give exact reliable figures but from the look on the roads it must be easily 30% diesel especially small to mid range cars

I know for a fact in France its almost the other way around . Everyone loves deisel and this is why they are the ones developing the HDI and Turbo Deisel more than anyone else also the Germans have got on the band wagon as you can see from the new BMW 330 Deisel (Tiff in top Gear had the petrol up against the deisel and it did not do to bad )

Diesels are also gaining in popularity here in NZ as well esp in the 4x4 suv area.I reckon they create more smog than petrol engine's but apparently they are more environmentally friendly....beeeelieve it orrr not.
