I just bought a 2001 F350 ext. cab 4x4 long bed automatic.It has a 373 gear in the rear end.It also has 285 75 16 tires on it.From the factory it calls for
265 75 16 tires.But my speedometer is not off.When I checked the mileage
it is saying i am getting 12.7.It has the 7.3 turbo diesel.I checked the air filter
today it was very dirty I put a napa air filter back in it.How much difference
in mileage can that air filter make?

Cleaning the airfilter or replacing will let you see a bit of improvement, but that can always be negated by the way you drive. If you hotdog it now that you replaced the filter you may see a decrease. There are soo many factors when it comes to mileage that one little change in any of them can affect it in either direction.

I dont drive anytime very hard.This is a single axle and has 84000 miles on the
truck..But I dont hot dog it!I still Have herd from Many that I should be getting between 15-18mpg.
