Anyone know if you can disable the passenger side airbag in the 2001 Escape? Is there a switch? Or does it not activate if there is not enough weight in the seat? Any ideas?

Air bag off option was only standard on regular cab trucks, so you could carry a child. You can always have the passenger air bag removed, but be cautious as this can void warranty, insurance and vehicle safety as the engine light, or air bag light would come on as it senses a problem (air bag is GONE!). To my knowledge you cannot legally install an 'off' aftermarket switch for safety and liability.

I have a 2003 Ford Escape and the Front Airbag Light has come on. Any idea why this would happen? Can the light be shut off?

WARNING: Disconnect the battery before attempting any airbag fix.

It could be a loose connector under the seat.
I believe there was a TSB on this related to the seat belt.
The fix was a repacement wiring harness.

Some auto parts stores will pull the codes for free.

Thanks for the additional information. I googled this issue on another Forum, and one of the responders advised about the connections under the seat.

I am technically challenged but was able to follow the simple instructions to check the connections, after checking the connection and re-connecting the wires, the Front Airbag light went off. I drove my car for about a hour today and the light never came back on. I guess my problem is solved. Thanks!
