I am having a problem with my 2001 Ford Escape Mannual Transmission. It is a 2 wheel drive. When I am driving it and I reach 75mph, you can feel the engine lose power. If I am going up a hill, the speedometer will drop about 10 to 20mph even if I have it to the floor. Once I hit 75mph and then slow down and come to a stop, the engine idles poorly and shifting through the gears, it is sluggish and does not have any power to pick up speed. But, if I turn off the engine and restart, everything resets and goes back to normal. The engine runs fine, pick up is normal until I hit 75mph and then it happens again. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this? Thanks.

PM me your VIN# please. There is a TSB (not a recall) issued about the spark plug RF signals causing the PCM to fail and short out all 6 coils. This is only for the 3.0L V-6 model though.

If you have a 4cyl, then it may be a fuel pump.

Is the Check Engine light on? If not, I would suspect a faulty fuel pump. Easily replaced from the driver side rear seat access panel. Also replace the fuel filter.

You also have 2 open safety recalls!
