Question 2001 Ford Escape- Coolant Light

In the last month or so the coolant light has been coming on in my 2001 Ford Escape. It seems to do it only when it is rather warm out or has been in the sun a lot. The temperature gauge is sitting half way between C and H as well.

I have tried:

1) Checking the coolant. I've refilled it a little bit but the light still comes on sometimes.

So I'm looking for anyother ideas as to why the light keeps coming on. Could it be a bad sensor or something?

I have the same issue, did you ever get it resloved? My light has been on for months now.

No I haven't yet gotten it resolved. I'm having trouble finding the time to bring it in, though I've considered taking it to autozone to see if they can find out what's wrong with it. If i find out anything I'll let you know.

Raven - when was the cooling system last flushed & filled? If you haven't done it in a few years, I'd get that service done and see if Autozone will scan for any engine codes. They should do that free of charge if I remember correctly. If other codes are stored, they may be the culprit to the coolant light. A bad sensor is also a possibility. A flush & fill will also bleed the system of any air pockets that might exist.
