mad 2005 Escape XLT Engine Died while Driving

I own a 2005 Ford Escape that has been in and out of the shop since I have owned the vehicle (purchased Apr '04). First three repairs where for a fuel system problem - final repair 1/05. Just this past Monday (9/26/05) the engine died while driving down Interstate 95. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? The truck is currently at a local dealer and Ford has instructed them to take off the engine cover and investigate in there. I think this truck is just a lemon...it has been in for repairs more than I have been able to drive it!!!! Any input would be greatly appreciated...thank you!

Fords are good vehicles, but some times lemons do pop up. Talk to the dealer from whom you purchased the vehicle and see if they're willing to work out anything. If that doesn't work, start going above the dealer (We did it with a Honda Insight and it worked wonders) to any number you can find. Ford stands behind their product and I hardly believe they'd tell you to get lost.

Re: 2005 Escape XLT Engine Died while Driving

Thank you for your insight. I went directly to Ford when I first started experiencing starting failures with this truck. They didn't tell me to "get lost" but they did tell me there was nothing they could do about it until the dealer figured out the problem. It took my filing Lemon Law for them (the manufacturer and the dealer) to take me seriously. I appreciate your opinion, but I personally feel that Ford could give a darn about their customers.

Re: 2005 Escape XLT Engine Died while Driving

Any resolution? I had a similar problem 2 nights ago. I was driving on the expressway and although it didn't stall outright my RPM's dropped really low and pushing the gas pedal did nothing. I pulled over and turned off the vehicle, sat there for a few minutes and restarted the vehicle. I was able to rev the engine in park a little bit but it still didn't feel right. When I tried to get going again the same thing happened so I called a tow truck. It's at Ford service and they can't recreate it. Any ideas?
