2008 Escape Drum brakes?

Hi all,

In November, I changed the rear shoes on my Escape. They were not quite in need of replacement but I thought I had the time and money so I did them. I used 1st line wagners. Not long after I noticed a squeak noise very simlilar to when your struts go but coming from the rear brakes. It is not suspension related.

This past weekend, I replaced the Wagners with the same set of Wagners and again, it was good for a day and now the noise has come back.

I am still using the stock drums that are in good shape. Do you think replacing these Wagners with Ford shoes would fix the issue?

The noise only happens when pressing on the brake pedal. Thanks.

JJ

Any time I've had brake noise on rear shoes on any car , I've smeared some Copperslip grease on the contacts on the back plate where the shoes touch / slide and it's cured the problem .

From what you say , and it's not a sticking piston in the wheel cylinder or a brake cable not releasing properly , no play at wheel / hub , sounds like it's got to be the shoes ?

Thanks R.S!

Going to pick up the new shoes from Ford tonight. Will report back after I change them out again.
