2008 Escape XLT V6 AT noises

I've noticed two peculiar noises on my Escape. I have about 8k miles on it. I leased it with about 200 miles on it last July. It's been great except ...

When driving at any speeds above about 35, I hear a very annoying whistling noise coming from the side mirrors. Although probably not the safest, I opened my window one day while driving interstate and cupped by hand around the back of the mirror and the noise went away. My dealership things I'm crazy of course.

The second is during normal acceleration, I get a "fluttering" of the accelerator and a soft short noise when hitting about 40-43 mph. It's consistent in that speed range and it's not when it's changing gears either. I'm having the "can not reproduce" problem with this one right now when I have them look at it.

Anyone else experienced either of these?

Re: 2008 Escape XLT V6 AT noises

Check with another dealer about the problems. The 'fluttering' may be curable via a new software download. Ask the dealer (search online first) about any TSB's - technical service bulletins for the '08 models. Side mirrors generally create wind noise. Usually it blends in with other ambient noise. If you have mirrors that fold are have powered glass, fold them inwards a notch or two and adjust the glass accordingly. If you have window vent visors you may be out of luck and will either have to remove the visors or put up with the noise.
