2008 ford escape changing the factory radio

I am buying an 08 escape XLT this week but i cant decide what radio to get. I want to get the basic radio and swap it out for an aftermarket deck (i currently have a pioneer 9800BT in my 01 celica). The problem is just by looking at it, it doesnt even appear possible to remove the factory radio and install another one. is it even possible to remove the factory radio?? if so would it require modifying the interior?

any advice or sharing any experiences would be great. thanks in advance for any response.

Re: 2008 ford escape changing the factory radio

link appears to be dead. sad... it looked like a really interesting lecture, not to mention that I was answering to someone on the other forum about problems he's having with his ipod and connecting it to the aux port of the car and it could have come in handy. if that was a diagram, maybe it's worth being reposted, as I'm sure a LOT of people would find it useful...
thanks in advance!

EDIT: I've been re-checking the victorytechnologies website and it appears that you need to be a subscriber / customer in order to access the database. so no entry for us plebes :D (j/k)
