I am having a problem with front end noise; it seems to be an alternating rubbing/bumping sound; like when the turning wheel hits the same spot, I get the noise. The frequency of the noise increases with vehicle speed. It is not a continuous hum. The sound appears around 40 mph. There does not seem to be any body shake felt through the steering wheel or when applying the brakes. I have had the tires rotated and balanced religiously. It has 19,000 miles.

I took the Escape to the Ford dealer and they told me they heard the sound, and checked "everything" underneath and and all was "good". The sound still exists after taking it to the dealer.

Any ideas? I would appreciate any help!

Try another dealer.

Front end work will cost them money to repair it properly. I wouldn't allow a dealer to tell me "everything's good" when even they know it's not. If there's not another dealer close by, go back to your primary dealer and demand them to fix your vehicle, as they even admitted that there was a problem. If you're snooty and persistent enough, they'll fix it fast.
