I’m rebuilding a salvage 2008 Mercury Mariner 2WD 6cyl. Has been in a side impact wreck, replaced the curtains, seat, pretentioner and seat beat assembly air bags. Light is still solid.

I’ve read a lot of thread that already refer to read code number and list of definitions, but I am not finding any information on how to obtain the codes manually (without a code reader). Used to be able to use a meter to signal out the code and a jumper wire to clear codes (if disconnecting the battery didn’t work.)

Anyone know how to read the SRS/ABS codes manually from home? (laid off and poor here, ford dealer wants $98 to read each, but I cant get it there anyway no tags/ salvage)

With the OBD2, there's no way to pull codes without a scanner. At least I never heard of any. The older systems you could.

I wouldn't say every OBD-II scanner would pull Airbag/ABS codes either. I may take a high end model.

Thanks for the bad news fellas, I guess i kind as figured as much as I couldnt find anything online.

So I am assuming that means I would need the same scanner that reads the codes to "clear" the codes for this model car?

I have noticed since replacing the airbags, that the 5 x 5 tone alert sound has stopped, but the light still remains.
