I have wear on the inside edge of the front tires after switching from the stock 17 inch Michelin Cross Terrains 225's to Cooper discoverers 235's. The service guy at my local Ford said that this year Escape has issues with premature tire wear, has anyone heard this? The tire wear didn't start until after i had part of the steering column replaced under warranty for sticking when turning all the way to the left. I asked them if it required a wheel alignment as a result of the replacement and they said no which I obviously don't believe.

It definitely needs the toe-in adjusted. I'd talk to the service manager.

Any steering component replacement when covered under warranty should also include an alignment. The shop just sounds incompetent.
