This is my first post.

Has anyone had any problems with the cargo shade?
I currently own a 2010 Escape and when driving over bumpy roads mine will pop out of the holders and retract. It does it 80% of the time

I am worried that one of these times the shade will end up breaking.

I haven't heard of anything regarding the shades. I take it you read the owners manual on the proper install procedure? I know on my old '91 Mustang, the shade would 'clip' into place.

I believe you posted this elsewhere, correct?

You said that the ends that are cradled only stick out about a 1/4" which would allow it to pop out. Mine stick out way more than a 1/4" and have never popped out even when hitting potholes.

Take it back to your dealer.
