1. What is with the recall on the tranny of the 09 escape? Its a simple software upgrade. What was the problems?

2. Dealer did my oil change in my 09 escape. It now says to come back at 8000Kms and not 5000kms?! I thought the 09 escapes didnt have this capability? Or is it a type of oil filter and oil used allowing for much longer mileage? Or did they just screw up?

3. Hey the service guy told me i should complain about my driver seat floor boats since they are all rusted...he said he can replace them for free only if i complained..so i said yah they are rusty and gross for 1 yr old..so i got new ones...wtf!?

The recall is a PCM reflash only if you have less than 7K miles, if over that a pressure load test is performed, if that fails, they rebuild two clutches and replace the valve solenoid body assembly. The problem is with a valve positioning problem which can cause abnormal wear.

They should follow the oil change interval mentioned in your owner's manual.

1 - I'd try to push for the rebuilt parts versus the software update!

2 - Most newer vehicles can go longer on an oil change as engine rpm has been lowered by 5 or 6 speed transmissions, and lower rear axle ratios so it creates less friction on moving parts, and thus less wear and longer oil life. Conventional oil, if you drove 100% highway can last upwards of 12,000kms! It's driving in the city that hurts the most.
