TSB 05-17-11

Code 46 is driver side pretensioner resistance and code 47 is passenger side. Pretensioners are the buckles.

Here is the info................
Quote:
Some 2001-2004 Escape vehicles may exhibit an intermittent air bag lamp on and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1877 and/or B1881. This may be caused by a variation in the electrical continuity between the pins of the driver and/or passenger side wiring harness and the buckle pretensioner connector. If this condition were to occur, the air bag system remains fully functional.

ACTION:
Install a replacement harness connector kit ON BOTH the driver and passenger safety belt buckle pretensioners, even if the DTC is present for only one side. The kit includes improved connector halves to replace the existing connectors on both the body harness and the safety belt buckle pretensioner.

One kit is required per side (2 kits per vehicle). Refer to the instruction sheet included in the kit for complete repair procedure.

Re: airbag light

Basically, the connectors are right under the seat and they suck. The kit is new connectors with shrink tubing and wires that actually need spliced in. To save money, you can simply cut out the connector and splice direct, but make sure you do not confuse the wires! Disconnect the battery! This is an SRS system.

Re: airbag light

Try this first if it's just a simple cable connection problem. Disconnect the battery. Spray WD-40 onto/into the connector(s) on both driver and passenger seats. Spray a small quantity on both parts (male and female) connector sides (Keep thing neat and use a towel so you don't over-spray under the seats). Push the connectors together/apart a few times, locking and unlocking the connectors to get a good connection between the two parts. Connect/lock both connectors. Connect the battery and start the engine - the light should be off. Worked for me....... :-)
