Hi guys. I have a 2005 Ford Escape and I've been having quite a lot of trouble with it. It intermittedly slips into neutral while going forward and backing out of the driveway. According to the Ford Motor Company, they are aware of this concern, however they do not have a fix for it at this time. I am in touch with the Ford executive offices as well as the dealership, but they're really not doing anything about it. Is anyone else having this problem? Please let me know! abbyjenn;.. You didn't say what kind of trannie.. I am guessing it is a standard connected to the new 4 cyl.. That is a new combination so Ford may be working on some brand new model bugs.. Let us know what they find...

I just traded a 1999 Taurus in on a 2005 4-cylinder Escape on Sept. 24. On Wednesday of this week at 310 miles, the tranny made a loud grinding noise followed by a constant humming and slipping going into 2nd and 3rd gears. After returning it to the dealer and having them check it out, they are putting a new tranny in it due to "the insides being messed up". Best advice, keep on them about the issues you are having since there may be a problem with these trannys. Good luck!

I enjoyed everything about it for the 5 days I was able to drive it and I am looking forward to getting it back to see the difference with a new tranny.
