Escape Door Noise

I have a 2002 Escape as well and noticed the following:

1) The doors tend to rattle more like a cracking sound when I do over kerbs or the body flexes. Is this common.

2) For the first 10-15 minutes when I start or stop the truck, there is a ticking noise from the exhaust - sort of like expansion, but dealer can''t seem to fix it. Any ideas.

The noise in the exhaust is common and normal, but the noise in the door's isn't. If it were mine I'd have the dealer take another look, point out the noise to him ( ride with the service writer ) and let him know that a truck this new shouldn't have such a noise. It sound's as though the door's weren't aligned properly.

Re: Escape Door Noise

i agree with big 1 that the exhaust will make noise as it expands and contracts and as for the door thing i got to ask this question.
how fast and how often do you drive over curbs.

I will get the door checked out. I have to go over a slight kerb/gutter each day to get into my long drive way. I take it pretty slow, and have noticed that if I take it at a diagonal, there is a crack sort of sound from the latch area as the body flexes. It happens off road as well when I go over bumps etc. Any ideas what's causing it or is it a normal flex of the body that causes the latch to crack.

Re: Escape Door Noise

Other than door fit-alignment issue's I can't say, but it isn't normal

Took it to the dealer and they adjusted it. Still there and dealer heard it too. They reckon its the body flexing.
I will try the seals and let you know.

Tried the seals, it did help a little, I then lubed the door lock mechanism and it seems to have gone.

Thanks guys.
