As far as the Ranger locks, up till 1993 for sure, used pin tumbler locks before changing to wafers. They were much,much,much better locks. Virutally no problems. Locks these days are very poor quality and give problems. Search here or google on problems with the Ford Focus ignition locks. Sadly Ford will do nothing about it, at least not without charging for it.

I don't like the Escape key & ignition switch. You'd think Ford would get something as simple as that right. We've got a Honda - it's got a bigger key that's easier to insert into the switch. The Honda door locks have a better feel too. Somebody ought to sit those Ford executives & manager down at a computer & make 'em read these forums for a month or two. Maybe then they'd understand why they're getting killed by the competition.
