Re: Ford recalls nearly 700,000 Escape SUVs

About time! I had mine fxed last year. We called Ford yesterday and they said for us in Canada the recall letters will be sent out at the end of July along with a request for refund form for those of us that have paid for the problem.

What did you have fixed? It's a module reprogram.

There are two out concerning the 2008-2012MY, one for the TB issue but the latest is for loss of EPAS which is to mailed out by end of July.

The TB has a PCM reflash which I had done a week or two ago. The EPAS can be a torque sensor replacement, steering column or PCM reflash. Details aren't out yet. In the past when the torque sensor didn't work the whole steering column was replaced.

I knew about the TB reflash. Didn't realize mailed out paper work to customers on the EPAS. Always been able to just do the torque sensor myself but hope we don't have to replace those under recall.

Are you a Ford Tech? Some have stated that "sometimes" after a torque sensor is installed, steering wheel rotates all the way to right(IIRC) after starting up and stays there. This was back a bit and I think that they figured that issue out though!

It's install error. Yes I've had it happen. Must follow instructions to a T or it will turn right or left. Biggest thing is having steering neutralized and centered when doing the procedure.
