Re: How to change km to miles on 2008 Escape XLT ??
No. The odo is set by the manufacturer to the country it was sold to. It can be changed, but it's expensive to do and probably isn't worth the while either.
You'll have to remove the dash cluster and the PCM under the hood and send both into Ford (closest dealer). The dealer will have to flash both units with updating programming and then reinstall. A lot of dealers will tell you it can't be done because they don't want to deal with any liability issues that might arise later on; selling or deporting the vehicle; reflash fails and damages dash unit and resets the ODO to '0km'.
A friend of mine moved overseas with the armed services a few years ago and attempted to do something similar to his Dodge Ram and was told it couldn't be done. He looked into it more and found a dealer that would do it, but it was going to cost him $3K so he left it alone as he knew he'd be back in Canada (where KM is used) in no more than three years.
