Re: How to tell 2WD or 4WD
A few simple things to check: In the cab you will see a rotary knob to switch to AWD or 2wd to 4WD auto and/or 4WD low lock. If there is no knob then it's a 2wd. Another way to check is to look under the rear of the vehicle. If there's a driveshaft going into a pumpkin (gear set) between the wheels in the center then it's a 4WD. You could also look under the front of the vehicle to see if there is a transfer case that is behind the transmission and has a driveshaft going to the rear of the vehicle as well.
The last way if you're still unsure is to phone the dealer and give them your VIN# located on your insurance slip, or on the drivers side of the windshield on the dash. They'll be able to look up exactly what you have. I might be able to find out for you if you post the VIN on here as well through a local online auto parts store.
