P0430, Escape 2002 2WD XLT

got an error code# P0403.
mechanic advised me to replace two "manifold" cat' converters on bank1&2.
ok, grabbed two used converters and when we were trying to replace
converters, we found the rear converters was not there...

what happened about two months ago....
got a lot of noise heard from the botttom.
I thought there was exhaust gas leaking through the mufflers..
so I sent the car to the muffler shop to fix it.
it returned fixed...

what I found today..
they got rid of the rear cat' converter and replaced it with "ordinary" muffler with similar size as cat' converter.

QUESTION:
do I have to re-install rear conver & manifold converter to get rid of P0430?
does P0430 can be generated by rear cat' converter?
looks like there is no sensor around rear converter.

Thanks
Edward
