I just bought a 2009 Escape with the 6 cd audiophile radio.There is very little bass in the tone to the radio.Is this common for this radio or is there a problem?

I think it's built that way. I upgraded to a 12disc CD changer in my G6 GT shortly after I bought it, and I added on a real amp and equalizer as I thought the stock system had no bass. A week after I had installed it, two screws holding the speakers down under the front dash had rattled loose! Goes to show true GM quality.... I hope Ford didn't do that in the Escape. I test drove an Escape and didn't find it lacking, mind you the wife was with me at the time so I couldn't properly test the system. With any luck others will chime in.
