Rattling under hood

Hello All,
New to forums and new to car repair so please be patient. I didn't see a search option for the threads (maybe I'm blind) so here is my question. I have a 2007 Ford Escape. When I turn on the car I can hear a rattling noise from under the hood when I go over bumps. It sounds almost like a small coil or spring vibrating cause it dies down after a few seconds until I go over another bump (Cleveland has crappy roads). Can anyone suggest a method of searching for the source of this problem? I looked under the hood myself but I don't know what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance!

Re: Rattling under hood

It could be a number of things, from engine pulley, to a loose component - use your hands and make sure air intake, wires, relays are all snug and attached somewhere. You might want to phone a local dealer and give them your VIN, then they can tell you if any TSBs have been issues for your vehicle and if any have been performed.

I know on my Taurus, there was some suspension noise and I later found out about a coil spring recall! A phone call won't hurt.
