2) Rear hatch door has locked, and will not open. There is no key slot to manually open the door. Only an electronic button that is not responding.
Has anyone encountered a locked hatch door? Any suggestions on repair? Can this be fixed without peeling off the rear door panel?
I am going through the same issue with my 2011 Escape rear latch. I get intermittant use....sometimes it uplocks sometimes it doesn't. Lately it is more likely to NOT unlock via door switch or key fob. It appears the rear latch actuator is the culprit. Apparently these have been failing after a relatively short life. In our cases, 2 years.
The dealer sells the actuator as part of the whole real latch assembly for $120. Even though the actuator is all that is needed, Ford only sells the whole dang part.
