Greetings.

My 2011 Escape is leaking oil (or some other viscous liquid) Is it common for a new vehicle, specifically Escapes, to have this sort of problem?

For information: the Escape is a 2011 XLT/manual/2.0L/I4/about 4k mi

The leak seems to be near the front of the vehice on the driver's side. It only seems to make a few drips, and only after long trips.

It's not normal. I'd get it to the dealer to check. Possible axle seal.

Could be the dreaded left hand half-shaft seal leak. A recent post in another forum states that the oil seals are national backorder, due 3/22/11. The owner was told that the supplier went out of business.
