On 10/16/04, I purchased a 2005 Ford Escape -- $27,XXX -- and on 11/9/04, it blew up! (I had driven it a total of 2,831 miles.) The Ford dealership states that the engine has to be replaced. Ford Customer Service doesn't feel that it is their responsibility to provide a replacement vehicle while this thing is repaired.
I personally think the vehicle should have lasted longer than 24 days! I haven't even made the first car payment! I'm now remembering the reason I don't buy Fords!
