Thumbs down For Sale: 2005 Ford Escape

On 10/16/04, I purchased a 2005 Ford Escape -- $27,XXX -- and on 11/9/04, it blew up! (I had driven it a total of 2,831 miles.) The Ford dealership states that the engine has to be replaced. Ford Customer Service doesn't feel that it is their responsibility to provide a replacement vehicle while this thing is repaired.

I personally think the vehicle should have lasted longer than 24 days! I haven't even made the first car payment! I'm now remembering the reason I don't buy Fords!

It blew up when I was just minding my own business, driving down the interstate, 70 miles per hour - cruise control on. Without any warning, everything quit -- power brakes, power steering and smoke filled the vehicle. I was lucky enough to get off of the road before the 18-wheeler behind me smashed me flat! I thought the vehicle was on fire -- it was quite the experience!

i would take that further, push the DP of the store you bought it at to give you a new or even a loan car whilst this is fixed.... that is just not good enough !

Had my 2004 Escape since August 13 (2004), and has been a dream ever since.

Then again, ours (Australia) are built in Japan - which to most car magazines you read - makes a BIG difference !
