Squeaks....'05 Escape, rear quarter interior

No noise at all over speed bumps or other problems, but I notice an odd occasional squeak from the right rear quarter, sometimes just on acceleration.

When I check it while it is parked, I can shake the car with the backlift open, and get nothing. Pounding on the interior side panels produces nothing. Shaking or moving the seats, nothing. Rear cargo panels, no noise. Jack equipment is tight, nothing loose, nothing moving in the vehicle.

Thought maybe the rubber seals around the lift gate were causing it, so I put some teflon spray on them, no change. And it happens with no warning, no special movement on the vehicle. Thought it was bodyroll/flex, but not sure.

We isolated it to the very back right rear quarter interior, where there is a speaker grille. The jack pocket shows no loose parts, nothing rattling. Seems like it's the top of the shock tower.

Just wonder how tough it might be to pull the interior panel before I take it to a dealer to screw it up even worse.

Any thoughts?

Lightbulb Re: Squeaks....'05 Escape, rear quarter interior

If its only when driving, is it a relatively soft squeek?

Does it go.. squeek squeek squeek squeek squeek rapidly, especially during acceleration around 25-40 mph? (I feel like a mouse!)

If that's it, what you may have is that the tire/rim is slightly misformed, and the squeeking you hear is the inconsistency of the tire skimming on the pavement. Your warranty should cover it if that is indeed the problem.
