I have a 2007 Escape that is driving me nuts. When the clutch pedal is depressed or released it squeaks...every time. Upon inspection it sounds like the squeak is coming from inside the clutch master cylinder. There is an aluminum sleeve that moves in and out of the cylinder as the pedal moves that I suspect is the culprit. I have tried every lube I can think of and nothing seems to help. My next move is to replace the clutch master cylinder, but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and if so what was the fix.

It's not the pedal return spring ?

Unfortunately not. The noise is coming from the action of the sleeve going in and out of the master cylinder body. The strangest part is lubricant makes absolutely no difference. I guess I picture a couple of o-rings in the body of the master cylinder that for some reason are not riding smoothly on the sleeve???
