Re: Starting Problems w/2005 Escape

Yeah The Theft Light Was Coming On And Flashing. The Milage Guage Would Have Lines Through It And The Escape Wouldn't Start. Prior To That I Thought It Was The Battery Too But It Wasn't. Her Battery And Altenator Were Still Good. The Other Thing That Wouldn't Work Was When A Computer Was Hooked To It. It Would Say Connection Error. I Dont Know If It Will Do It To All. So Try And See If You Can Get The Wires Looked At. Thats Where Id Start.

Does Your Vechile Shut Off While Driving?

Do You Have A Red Light Connected To Your Alarm On The Bottom Side Of The Drivers Side Dash?

If So That Is A Dealership Installed Alarm That You Should Have Looked At Because All They Do Is Splice Into The Existing Alarm From Factory? Its Called A Silencer Alarm That Disables The Vechile.

!!!!!!!and One More Hint Of Advice.. Your Vechile Has A Lock Out In The Alarm. It Has A Mild Lock Down Then A Hard Lock Down To Prevent Theft. So If You Keep Trying To Start It When Its Not Working You May Lock The Whole System. Just A Little Info A Mechanic Friend Told Me!!!!!!!!!

Re: Starting Problems w/2005 Escape

My 2006 Escape is in the shop now for the same problem. This is the second time and it is starting just fine for the dealer. They don't seem to be able to do anything unless it acts up while hooked up to the computer. I found that if I held the key turned my gear indicator would start jumping from P to D and back, then I tried starting in neutral and held the key turned and the indicator jumped form N to D and back repeatedly. Unfortunately the tow truck driver fiddled with things and got it to start so it continues to start at the dealer. I am gettin darn frustrated. So I'm feeling your pain.
