I have looked all over the place, and no one has the 2009 escape listed for a K&N filter, or even an oil filter. Does it use the same filters as the 2008??

I want to change the oil around 1,500 miles... just because. But if I cant find an oil filter, I guess I wont..

The dealer has oil filters! There aren't much in the aftermarket for the 2009 Escapes yet. Amsoil and a few other major players should have filters out in mid to late January. I recommend AMsoil products. It's never too early or to late to go synthetic. You are right about changing out the oil early on as it gets rid of a lot of the machining debris left over from the factory and generally will prolong the life of the engine. Happy hunting!

I have an 09 Mariner with the V6. I went to the Fram website and input the part number for the Ford oil filter. It returned the Fram equivalent filter of PH2. If you have the four-cylinder, I would suggest doing the same--get the Ford part number from your owner's manual and then go to your preferred filter manufacturer's site and enter the part number there. It should give you their equivalent. Or, you can just go to the dealership and purchase some filters--at slightly higher price. As far as the air intake filter, I would wait a couple of months and then check the K&N website. They should have a replacement filter fairly soon.

By the way, the decision to get the first oil change early is a good one. My brother is a master mechanic and this is the practice that he recommends. It removes any leftover machining bits from the engine.

How do u change the air filter? It is a cylinder in the 2009 3.0l and want to replace it it with a k&n. Does it just pull out? Dont want to break anything?

Removing the air filter on the V6 is a cinch--just pop the retaining clips that keep the top of the air filter box in place and remove it. Then it's just a matter of removing the filter cylinder. I too would like to switch to a K&N filter, but they don't have them available yet. A couple of months, and it should be available.

Also, make sure that the hood prop rod gets stowed properly--it goes behind the air inlet, not in front of it. Kind of an odd design, but it works.

so the cylinder u just pull off? Nothing else, no clips or anything? The filter is in prity good.
