Dont know if this info , is correct or not re. Elm 327.
I´m thinking to buy ELM 327 to scan my car and bike.
But does anyone know does it work on diesel MK3 Mondeo 2001 TDDI ?
(1) I dont think so, My elm 320 would not read my sisters 2002 TDCI
(2) If I´m right, diesel from 2004.
(3) obd 2 came in for diesel in 2004 and 2001 petrol
i have elm 327 for my petrol 2003 mondeo with scantool software and i have a 2000 plate astra which i use vauxcheck on the vauxhall is not obd2 but the mondeo is so in a nut shell you need to find software for your mondeo mondeo mk3 1.8 petrol zetec 53 plate

Re: Diagnostic tool for a Mk3 Mondeo?
Reply #26 - 30.10.10 at 14:23:59 I can't say what's wrong with the gendan side of things but mode 3 is how ALL (non-pending, i.e. actual) codes are reported. (Mode 7 is for pending codes.)
Only some codes witll turn on the MIL. Maybe the gendan tool only reports those.
Or maybe what you have are pending codes and maybe it doesn't report those.
But the elm327 will read all of these (mode 3 & 7, in fact all modes including 6, 22, 27, 31, whatever). You can do all those using hyperterminal but it's not user-friendly!
Try the free scantool.net from
ScanTool.net, LLC - Downloads
at least it may help you figure out what's broken in the gendan tool and ask them to fix it.
Best I can do to help .
