confused 03 Expedition

Hi all I'm new here to the forum and I'm looking for help. My wife drives an 03 Expedition 4.6lt. Yesterday she told me that the door agar light kept coming on. Being the good husband I am I told her to close the door. Tonight I noticed the interior lights keep coming on but just for a min. or two. Doors are closed and I am lost. I guess I have a short but don't know where to start looking. I am accepting ideas for a starting point.
Thanks in advance.

Re: 03 Expedition

Very very common. At least in other Ford models. I'd bet money it's the same on Expeditions. I have a Windstar that has this problem. I have a Thunderbird that's had this problem. My mom's Mercury Sable had this problem. And I've seen others.

The sensor is in the latch mechanism for the door and on every one so far that I've seen, it can be fixed by spraying and soaking that latch mechanism in the door with WD40. Again, this is assumption on Expeditions, but I would expect it to be the same. The trick is figuring out which door is the one with the problem.

Re: 03 Expedition

Ditto on it being the latch. I would spray all of them. After spraying, open and close the door several times.

Re: 03 Expedition

Thank you, I just sprayed all the latches. I was not looking forward to chasing wires looking for a short. Now I'll wait and see.
Thanks again,

JD
