Anyone having a problem with their Exped. not normally turning over when starting? Took mine to dealer for service and when I got it back, it had this problem with hesitating or not immediately turning over when I try to start it. It is an intermittent problem that the dealer has said it cannot replicate. I've taken it to two dealers. The first one said it could not replicate the problem even though the problem still persists. So I took it to another dealer and they replaced the starter wire connector. However, now the truck does it even worse so I dropped it off with then again and they have said that they can't replicate the problem.

The truck has 52K miles on it and is still under warranty. I am going to pick it up on Saturday and when I do I will make sure that someone is present when "I" start it up. It's an intermittent problem and it's so obvious a problem that it's making the wife and I look like idiots because the dealer is claimin that they can't replicate the problem. Which, IMO, is a crock of manure because the truck is doing it and I am not there with them to see what their expression or reaction is when it does happen.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

I know what you are talking about and you are not crazy. I am a Ford tech and I have not seen this problem yet with a new style expedition. But some times you have to look at from the tech point of view. We don't want just throw parts at things and sometimes things are hard to duplicate. I was reading your other post and just cuz we can hook up a scanner its not going to tell us exactly what the problem is and yes there are tech out there that can fix things like this if you give us time to do it. Now on to your problem, Id say you have a problem with your battery cables. either at the battery or down to the starter. Have you had your battery replaced? If there is corrosion at the cable they can cause bad grounds or other various problems. I will do some more checking on the problem and see if we can come up with a solution.

I appreciate your response. I'm a little frustrated with the answers that I am getting from the "supposed" pros. I got some action going now though. I spoke directly with the service manager on Friday and he went out and tested it himself, again. He experienced the problem and since my battery was replaced, he suggested that maybe it could be a fuel injection problem but he will have his shop foreman get on it to further see what the problem could be.

In terms of the battery, it was replaced with a brand new motorcraft and the problem still persisted. Isn't it normally some sort of procedure when you guys see that there is a problem with the battery that you inspect or check the cables too? Also, I asked the service manager about TSBs and SBs and whether or not there is a charge for those because they noted on my service receipt that they replaced the starter wiring connector per a TSB. The manager informed me that he owed me $140 because my truck is still under warranty and I should not have been charge for the replacement and repair work under the TSB. I am waiting to hear back from them when my truck will be ready.
