05 Replacing front armrest

Hi, I'm new. I am a former Ford in name (hence the user name) and have always had a Ford in the family.

We just bought a 2005 Expedition XLS. It has a front split bench with a flip-down armrest. I traded my '06 Explorer XLT for this truck and I really miss my center console and storage. The little dash cup holder tray thing just isn't cutting it.

We didn't spend a lot on this truck and can't afford to put a lot into it, so I am thinking used parts. What I need to know is what is compatible. My brother's 2008 F150 and dad's 2001 F250 both have flip-down armrests with storage. Ideally, that's what I'd like to replace the one that's in it. Would one from a 2005 F150 fit? Can it be modified to fit?

I know my other option is to replace the whole front seat with 2 buckets and a center console, but I'm sure that is more than what I would want to spend on this little project.

From what I can tell, it would have to be from another Expedition. Check here to see what comes up. It searches every wrecking yard in the US and helps show what can be used.

Link? I'm assuming "here" is a link to another site, not somewhere on the forums.

It looks like the seats aren't necessarily as expensive as I thought. Maybe replacing the passenger seat with a captain's chair and a console is the way to go.

They'll often cut the price from what's shown. I'd also see if they'll take your old ones in trade since they are still usable.
