1999 ford expedition/oil leak
we bought our expedition a few mounths ago. after a few weeks we noticed an oil leak it looked like the valvecover was leaking. but to no avail it turned out to be the head gasket !!! i was an auot tech for 20 years and have been out of the busness for about 5 years after asking about this i was told this was a big pain in the a-- . the body has to come off the frame to pull the cly head??? do u know if this is true ? second i feel this should be a safty recall due to the fact that the oil leaks right on to the cat a potential fire hazzard. i called a local ford dealer and others & got quotes between 1,800 &3,000 to due this job. iwas also told thier was a tsb out on this. i cant aford to pay someone to due this for me so i will have to do this my self. i have an other option but i would have to change the insterment cluster, which i was told if i got a used one and replaced it the truck would have to be recalibrated or it would not start. do u know any thing about this? iwas on ebay looking for a insterment cluster and one guy stated with the cluster he was selling he would include directions on how to do this & he would set the milage to match. any help i could get would be great.
