Hey guys,

Just bought a 2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4wd. I'm probably going to need to replace the rear shock absorbers sooner than later, but I don't know what I'm dealing with. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but always with small cars. Complete Expedition noobie here. Do they all have air suspension?

They don't all have air suspension. Your owners manual will explain how to tell.

Alright, next question. I do have the air suspension. Since I know nothing of these sort of systems, I'd consider doing the conversion to a coil spring spring setup which I'm more familiar with. Are their any drawbacks to this? Is it going to leave the 'check suspension' light illuminated?

Converting it is a good idea. I believe the kits have instructions on how to disable that.

Ran into a snag,

How do I remove the rear air springs? Everything I read says remove the clip up top then lift it off the bottom support and it should come out, but mine is still in their nice and snug. Nothing I've tried will get it out, any suggestions?

Have you removed the clip on the top? Have you deflated the air suspension?

Yeah, clips are off and no need to deflate since it was already blown completely off. Since it's blown off the bottoms are out but the tops are still right in there, tight as hell.
