2001 Expedition EB 5.4L Shocks - Ford Forums

I have the 2001 Expedition EB 5.4L. I have always been unhappy with the truck like ride and have been thinking about finally changing the shocks. I don't really use the truck for towing, I have towed my wifes mid size car on occasion to different vacation spots; she doesn't like to drive on long highway trips, thats about it.

Needless to say the truck should have a better ride, especially over bumpy roads.

Has anybody replaced the shocks on this model to make the ride more comfortable? What shock did you use? What did it cost in labor to replace the set? I was quoted about a year ago $400 for an upgrade (don't remember the shock brand sorry). Sound like alot for labor if a set of good shocks cost $240 (estimate on the high side at $60 each).

Any help would be appreciated.

The shocks may help some, but will not totally change the ride of that SUV. I never liked the way they rode either, but what can you do?

The ride is a bit rough, but I blame the air suspension more than anything for that. Plus, don't forget, it is a 6,000 lb truck.
