2001 Expedition window problem.

Hi everone,

I am new here, and wonder if someone might be able to shed some light on my situation. Today, I noticed that my rear passenger window (driver's side) was non-responsive. All of he other windows work fine. Is there a relatively simple fix for this, that I might be able to correct? (I am not what could be considered as being very mechanically inclined, but I don't mind getting my hands dirty) Or does this translate into - what could be a sizable electrical problem?

Thanks in advance.

Nathan

Well, never mind. When I started the vehicle, this morning, I hit the back two rocker switches for the windows (force of habit) and both rear windows lowered. It's good that they are all working, but I am assuming that there is some kind of 'shortening' going on.

Re: 2001 Expedition window problem.

Sounds like an electrical problem. Have you checked your fuses?

If they are good then look at the loom of wires that is going into the door at the hinge area. Make sure that none of the wires are pinched, broken or exposed.

You say that it does not work. Can you operate from any switch. The one on the door itself or the master switch? Or are both not functional?

make sure that the lock out is not enabled as well. I know it is a stupid suggestion, but you never know. Yes I saw that this was the only one not working. Just a suggestion though.

Re: 2001 Expedition window problem.

Hi,

No, I did not check the fuses owing solely to the fact that all other windows were in working order. I did, however, check through the fuse block section, in the owner's manual, just to see if maybe Ford had set up a dedicated fuse for each window. I kind of knew better than this, even before checkng, but figured that it wouldn't hurt to give a look-see (I mean, stranger things have happened). But I learned that there was just the one relay controlling all windows.

That particular window began to function properly the very next morning, and has been working ever since. I had indeed checked the window lock, and also the door lock - feeling that that might have been causative of my problem, had it indeed been enabled. But it hadn't. Hopefully, it won't happen again - because I am definitely NOT in the present financial condition to foot the bill of an electrical correction.

Thanks for coming back at me.

Nathan
