2001 Ford Expedition 5.4 gas mileage??? - Ford Forums

Hi there, I am a single mom and own a 2001 Ford Expedition. I LOVE my truck! However, I read everywhere that I should be getting about 10 to maybe 12 sometimes even 13 or 14 miles per gallon of gas city driving. I get about 6 miles per gallon...Does anone know what would be causing me to get such HORRIBLE gas mileage? It is a 5.4, I try to stay conscious of my foot on the gas pedal, I make sure it stays tuned up, especially the oil. The only thing I have changed on my truck is the wheels, there are 20" chrome wheels on there right now, but it seemed to get about the same with the factory wheels. Any ideas how to get it to get the 10 to 12 miles per gallon that it should be getting???

If you haven't already, run some type of fuel system cleaner and clean or replace air filter. If you don't see any difference in mileage, get a full blown tune up (i.e. plugs, etc...) That's what I would do. :)
