Drivers window will not go down - all other window are working. When I press the down button on the control panel I hear a click under the dash (to the left of the steering wheel). Any recommendations where to start troubleshooting or ideas what it might be?

Do the dome lights dim when you push the button to go down? If so, the motor needs replacing. You can tap the bottom of the door with a rubber mallot while pressing the switch and sometimes the brushes will drop in place to run the window for awhile.

Yes - the dome lights seems to dim a bit with the down button. Is the motor replacement a job I can tackle myself?

Replacing the motor isn't that hard to do. Did you tap the bottom of the door and get it to work?

Tried to tap the bottom of the door as you suggested, but it does not help. Just a clicking sound under the dash and the lights dim. I will attempt to replace the window motor - Thanks for the advice.

Soetimes it takes a few taps and hold the switch at the same time.

I was leary of whacking it too hard and the local parts store has the motor in stock, so I will attempt to swap it out this weekend. Any tricks to getting the door panel off and changing out the motor?

Check you local library to see if they have a Haynes or Chilton manual for your vehicle. It would be a good idea to buy one and it can be useful for other things too.
To remove the trim panel:
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Release the top piece opposite the mirror first.
3. Remove the window switch plate. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
4. Remove the door pull handle screw covers.
5. Remove the inside door handle trim cover.
6. Remove the inside door handle.
7. CAUTION: To avoid damage to the front door trim panel, do not pull directly outward. Lift upward and then outward to remove the front door trim panel
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors on the panel.
To remove the motor, remove the speaker then the 3 bolts holding the motor in.

Got the door panel off without issue. It appears that the motor mounts to a bracket on the inside of the door which is rivited onto the door. I can not see how to get the motor off - what is the trick here?

It appears there are 3 dimples where the screw heads would be - if there were holes there this would be an easy job. Don't tell me Ford expects you to drill holes in the door to replace the window motor?
