2004 Navigator Air Conditioning Problem

Hi,

My Navigator air conditioning is acting up. I was driving yesterday with the air on. I had it set to come out of the main air vent in the front of the dash. All of a sudden the air stops blowing out of those vents and just switches to the defogger vents even though I still had it set on the other setting. But I noticed that when I come to a stop at a stop sign or stop light, it will start working normal again. It will only act up when I accelerate. I have no clue why it is doing this. Any help would be appreciated. The car has about 98,000 miles on it. Thanks.

Re: 2004 Navigator Air Conditioning Problem

You are loosing vacuum to the a/c head. Check the black vacuum hose going to the a/c head. It runs through the firewall to the engine. I think the line tees into another one in the engine bay.The a/c head itself is a possibility as well.

FYI- (simply put) vacuum goes away when the throttle is opened and is created when it is closed.
