2006 Navigator Warranty Question / Suggestions?

So, I got myself a pretty sweet gently used 06 Navigator with only 30k miles on it last November. It is still under warranty, plus I got an extension on the orginal warranty including certification.. Anyway, so about 3 weeks ago I notice a scratch or what I thought was a scratch on the bottom of the rear lift gate. I was getting ready to be pissed, because I knew there was no possible way I could've done this. So, upon further inspection I noticed that its not a scratch but a crack in the paint. A week after this I notice the paint started bubbling and now it's peeling!!. This is on the bottom of the rear lift gate and it is about 3-5 inches in diameter. I've done quite a bit of research on this, and I'm guessing this is a factory defect and the paint was not sealed properly at the end of the lift gate. Now... I was wondering if this would be something that would be covered under warranty? Or am I going to have to pay for a new lift gate before it starts to rust (since it's peeling off all the way down to the primer/panel)? I know that obviously I need to take it to a dealership for them to assess the problem, but I was just wanting to know if I had a good case here for them to pay for it. Plus I didn't want to look like a complete dumba** when I went into the shop haha. Thanks ahead of time for any information that anyone can give me.

Re: 2006 Navigator Warranty Question / Suggestions?

Warranty should cover it as you're under the basic 36K. Don't say anything about a 'scratch' though, or the dealer will turn it around and try to pin it on you. Mention that you noticed a crack in the paint a week ago and didn't think anything of it, but a COUPLE DAYS later it had started to peel and bubble out and looks hideous.

It has more to do with how you present yourself (body language) and the problem to the service manager. If you lower the time frame a bit and say you were out of town on business (a few weeks seems a bit long not to tell the dealer) they should cover it without a hassle.
