2007 Expedition 5.4L driving hesitation after rebuild.

Hello everyone!

So I just got through rebuilding the head on a 2007 Expedition I just aquired. I just got everything back together this morning and started it up.

Everything seems to be running and idling perfectly however when I go to drive the truck seems to hesitate and drive really poorly.

I was very sure I didn't miss connecting any sensors when putting everything back together HOWEVER I did have a question on two sensors I might have gotten mixed up.

The two sensors in question connect to the top part of the block (visible when the intake is taken off) and connect to the wiring harness on the back of the firewall (that leads to the injectors/spark plugs)

There is a Left bank sensor and a right bank sensor and both have the same type of 2 pin plug.

This is the only thing when, I was putting everything back together , that I could remember which sensor went where because they both had the same type of connector.

What are the sensors for and if I got them mixed up would it cause a bad driving condition - aka almost no power and acceleration hesitation.

Lastly what is this sensor/plug for? It's on the injectors harness on the drivers side of the motor.

Thanks!!

What are the wire colors? Could be for the VCT's. Not sure of the connector in the pic, is that 2 wire and what are the colors?

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?

Have you, by chance looked at the spark plugs? Ron

Actually I think I figured it out. It plugs into the PCV valve. I think its some type of pcv valve heater thing from what I have found. I'll get a better picture in a minute

Spark plugs look fine. I just ordered a set of coils and a fuel filter. Hopefully this will fix it

Good odds it's a coil breaking down under load .

Never, never, never give up.

I really hope this is the case. I ordered a fuel filter and all 8 new coils.

Also, would you happen to know the ground location for the Electronic Brake Control Module?

I got code U0121 after pulling off the heads and rebuilding. I suspect that there is a ground somewhere I forgot to connect. There was not an issue with the EBCM prior to pulling the head so I know its something I probably forgot to hook back up. Possible ground.

So I changed the plugs and its still running bad. I attempted changing out the fuel filter but that thing will NOT come off. I have the tool that is suppose to disconnect the fuel filter by slipping around the fitting and that thing will not budge.

So after taking it for a drive I thought I heard something coming from the engine. I popped the hood and with the brake on put it in drive. This noise only happens when in drive and does not happen in park.

You changed the coils yet ? The noise on initial turning over seems like starter loose , flywheel , flexplate rattle .

Never, never, never give up.

Yeah I changed all the coils out last night. Still having problems. cant figure out this noise. Something tells me it has to do with the shuddering/hesitation power loss
