5.4 Engine Swap Between Model Years

I have a 2001 5.4 Expedition. I replaced the intake manifold due to a coolant leak after which, I could not get the vehicle to run properly. The idle is rough and the entire vehicle shakes under load. I replaced almost everythink I could on the intake including the air-idle control valve. Also replaced the plugs and coil packs. I put on about 50 miles trying to get a code to register with no luck. Took it to my mechanic and they think that the problem is internal. I've got a line on a 5.4 engine and trany from an 05. Are these plug and play? I know that 05 is a 3V motor, but I'm sure that it would fit. I'm not really a Ford guy, so while I have built many motors over the years, none were Fords. Looking to tap into the vast experience on this forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of changes nowadays year to year. Some parts can be the same but I think that would be a lot of modification. Try here for one that will work. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
