4.6 97 expedition was pretty simply people. i used a coat hanger to feed belt to myself under truck. hardest thing and the last was trying to get belt over alt. i got wifey to slide belt over while i held tensioner back.tensioner was pulled to its max and i still had hard time looping belt over alt. BY MYSELF thou. NEW belt was "tighter" was easier by her doing it. i didnt remove nothing at all,didnt loosen anything....just bent upper radiator hose over a little at times.thats what will be TRICKY when getting ratchet on tensioner...lol . i SHOULDVE changed tensioner bracket (3 bolts) and pulley but just replaced upper pulley cause it was easy and old. 152,000. gotta do egr now....lol

Just a tip, you can take it or leave it no difference to me:

If possible, I recommend to slide the belt over a smooth pulley for the finishing touch. It can be much easier this way because you do not have to lift the belt over the edge of a pulley since the new ones can be considerably tighter than the one you remove.

ahhh....good idea. did alt. pully cause it was right there on top.
